Eng. Ratna Hirani

Director

Eng. Ratna Hirani was born in 1949 in India and did his secondary schooling in Nairobi.Further, he attained his Degree in Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Bombay in 1973.

He joined I.B. Patel, Mangat & Partners in 1973 as a Graduate Engineer and rose steadily to position of an Associate in 1995 and finally in 2002, a Partner in the Firm.

Eng. Hirani has 45 years’ experience in design, construction supervision and quality control of structural engineering projects in East Africa, mainly in Kenya. He has handled structural design
and construction supervision of hotels and lodges, high-rise, commercial and residential and institutional buildings categories as well as reservoirs, water retaining structures, bridges and grain handling facilities. He is a member of The Institution of Structural
Engineers, U.K., Institution of Engineers, Kenya and Fellow, AAK.
Eng. Hirani was Chairman of Engineers Chapter of Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and held various other positions subsequently. Since 2004 he is Chairman of Board of Trustee for Kenya Professional Development Fund at APSEA. Eng. Hirani has
served as member of Buildings and Civil Engineering Industry
Standards Committee of Kenya Bureau of Standards.

In 2011, Eng. Hirani was awarded Head of State Commendation (HSC) by President of Republic of Kenya for his services to the Industry and Professions.
