Ruiru & Juja Water Supply Works

The Ruiru and Juja Water Supply Project was implemented by Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) with financing from the World Bank. The Project covered the Towns of Ruiru and Juja in Kiambu County. Ruiru Town is located along the Nairobi-Thika Highway, about 30km from Nairobi City. Juja Town is also located along the same Highway, 40km from Nairobi City.

The Scope of Works under the Project was:

1) Ruiru Works (13,000m3/day)
• Intake Works on Ruiru River and Raw Water Pumping Station
• Raw Water Pumping Main, DN 400 Steel Pipe, length 1.0km
• Treatment Works, capacity 13,000m3/d
• Treated Water Gravity Main, DN 500 Steel Pipe, length 9.4km

2) Juja Works (4,000m3/day)
• Intake Works on Ndarugu River
• Treatment Works, capacity 4,000m3/d
• Raw and Treated Water Pumping Station
